Cailyn Van Camp, PhD

Evaluation Specialist

Cailyn Van Camp specializes in youth physical activity with experience in pediatric physical activity assessment and youth activity intervention. As an evaluator, Cailyn is passionate about equitable access to physical activity opportunities for all individuals and how barriers to activity can be lowered or eliminated to improve overall health. Throughout her time in research, she has gained experience using both quantitative and qualitative methods to implement and assess different data collection tools or programming. She believes that evaluation can be used to improve community level health outcomes and institute behavior change and looks forward to using evidence-based practice to address nutrition, physical activity, and quality of life throughout the state of Michigan.

A lifelong Michigander, Cailyn received her Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology from Michigan State University, Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Eastern Michigan University, and Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Saginaw Valley State University.

Outside of work, Cailyn enjoys being active outdoors by travelling, hiking and camping. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her family, friends, and cat Frankie.
