Promoting Active Communities

The Promoting Active Communities (PAC) initiative helps communities to better understand both barriers to active living and solutions to overcome those barriers. By examining a community’s policies, programs, and built environment, community leaders can equip themselves to take action in order to create vibrant places for all people.

After completing the PAC, communities receive a feedback report. This report includes research-based resources and best practices to guide action planning with the goal of making it easier for people to be physically active in their daily lives.

The PAC is currently being updated. It will be available in six modules:

  • Core Community Readiness
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Schools
  • Neighborhoods
  • Commercial Districts
  • Transportation

The Core Community Readiness and the Parks and Recreation modules are available now. The other modules are coming soon.
