Welcome to Michigan Farm to Family: CSA

The Program

Michigan Farm to Family: CSA (MF2FCSA) is an innovative program that makes it possible for families to purchase and consume more fresh fruits and vegetables and strengthen their local food systems using SNAP/EBT as their form of payment.

What is a CSA?

CSA is short for community supported agriculture. In a typical CSA model, people join as CSA members by making a financial investment and buy a “share” of the farm’s production before each growing season. In return, they receive regular distributions (known as CSA shares) of the farm’s bounty throughout the season.

Through MF2FCSA, participants (known as CSA members) do not have to pay any costs up front, will pay a significantly reduced price, and will pay upon pick up using their SNAP benefits. For example, if the CSA share is $20 per box of fresh produce, CSA members pay just $5 with their SNAP benefits, and the program pays the remaining $15 to the farm.

Find a CSA Farm

To join a participating CSA near you, use the directory below (if you do not see a location near you, check back often as we add new CSA farms each season).

Nutrition Education Resources

In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, CSA members will receive tips to prepare, cook and store the produce they receive through Michigan Fitness Foundation SNAP-Ed partner nutrition educators.

Argus Farm Stop Argus Farm Stop is growing Ann Arbor’s local food ecosystem by sourcing vegetables, fruit, meats, dairy, and artisan foods from Michigan farmers and producers that use sustainable growing practices. Food grown locally is fresher than food shipped from a distance and produce is often picked the morning that it is delivered. They focus on seasonally grown items for your CSA share – like asparagus in the spring, berries in the summer, and paw paws in the fall. The CSA produce box will contain between 7 to 10 items each week. For example, one bunch of kale, a half-pound of spinach, 2 pounds of potatoes, a quart of apples, etc.
